used to be Better than gold. now it’s just burns 🙁

unfortunately this product has fragrance added now and it burns my skin. not to be alarmed as all fragrance burns my skin – but i had sought this shampoo out originally becasue of the wholesome ingredients. now though – it’s changing and i cannot use the product, it burns my hands and scalp and body. i’m very sensitive to chemicals or essential oils.too bad for me i guess…. i bought three of the new versions and i cannot use a single one of them. :(the other shampoos don’t seem to have the same fragrance -this is new since the branding switch.——- old review below ———-This is the best shampoo money can buy.I have so many allergies and react to chemicals immediately and violently. This stuff is gold. Out of stock everywhere on the planet so it’s worth the money.

Not sealed up, arrived with goo all over the bottle.

Wife really wanted this, however she is nervous about it by the way it arrived. She said she won’t use it but I’m hoping after I clean it up she gets over it. It doesn’t come sealed so be warned. Smells nice and aside from the leak it seems decent.

A lightweight solution for sensitive skin, but will leave you high and dry without a moisturizer.

[For a disclaimer I should mention that I’m using this product for myself- a twenty year old way too sensitive skin- and not a baby as the product is geared towards.]For basic everyday body care, Alaffia products are my favorite- lightweight and yet effective, and with the added benefit of some charity to lighten my day.Honestly, I don’t quite know how to feel about this product: it’s very light so I’ve got to use a couple of pumps for a complete head-to-toe lather, and unless I use some other conditioner, hair oil, or their paired baby body lotion my hair gets a little crisp when it dries… but other than those two problems (which honestly aren’t that concerning to me), the smell alone is worth the purchase. My skin is more reactive than sodium to water, and finding products that don’t cause a reaction besides some minor drying out is rare (hence my use of baby products for their lack of chemicals and over all gentleness). This wash is- and I shall repeat- super lightweight and gentle, and absolutely perfect for highly volatile skin.If you’re looking for something to use for your own sensitivities or for your baby, I would suggest this wash PLUS the lotion to combat possible dryness (or whatever conditioning agent you prefer).

    Actual natural ingredients, no greenwashing!

There’s a lot of kind of “pretend natural” companies out there, this is one of the very few that have great ingredients, I hope they never change their formula. I use this brand for my children and myself, we love the scents and how well it cleans!

    Strawberry ? Yes please!

Usually by day 2 or 3 from last time I shampoo I start getting itchy blisters and red itchy skin around my hair line closest to my temples. I usually have to use head and shoulders, the one in the dark blue bottle that stinks and it clears me right up but I hate how my hair smells after. So I will usually do a shampoo and conditioner i love up until they day I start getting itchy and forced to use head and shoulders , if I don’t my scalp gets angry its a vicious cycle. I bought this for my son in strawberry after trying the lavender lemon one , we also tried the one with shea but that gives my son tiny little dry bumps all over his arms and legs. This one that has coconut is perfect for him. I tried it on my hair when I started getting itchy blisters in my scalp going on day 2 from last shampoo and was already thinking I have to shampoo again the next day. Well guess what I didn’t get any more blisters, the other ones are gone and haven’t gotten any itchiness or redness around my hair line and it has helped me keep my hair less oily . I haven’t had to use stinky orange shampoo . I am on day six and have shampooed twice and my scalp is happy and my hair has a very light hint of strawberry scent. My hair is mostly virgin hair except the tips those where bleached and this shampo did make my ends a little stiff after when I dont put conditioner . I have not tried this brand conditioner but I plan to when I finish my honest unscented conditioner.

Has a strange fragrance | No Parabens/Mineral Oil

The media could not be loaded.

Cons: The only reason why Im taking one star away is the weird smell/fragrance from this shampoo. I felt strange when I used it to my daughter for the first time, although now I am used to that smell. So if you’re not into fragrance this product may feel irksome to you!Pros: So what I like about this product is that it doesn’t dry the skin or hair. I am currently using it for my 6 yrs old, She’s got curly hair which frizzes out oftentimes with shampoo regular usage. This product has been working well so far, her skin & hair stays soft & smooth mostly because one of the ingredients are certified Coconut oil.The label says No Parabens, or mineral oil of any kind, also it’s environment friendly. So apart from the weird smell a big thumbs up.

100% on the Yuka app for purity. Perfect for children with sensitive skin.

Fantastic product. My son has super sensitive skin with eczema and this doesn’t cause him to dry out or break out. I love that it has no chemicals and is rated 100% on the Yuka app for purity. I will definitely keep buying this. The scent is amazing and smells like starburst.

Love the message, not the product

Doesn’t smell bad but not great. Has no lather. It’s not terrible but I definitely wouldn’t buy again. I’ll be happy when it’s gone.

  13. VMac

    Love this company

I love this company and what they stand for, everything/ everyone that is supported and of course the natural ingredients and great quality!

Light fragrance, makes my skin feel great

I have severe psoriasis and eczema. This body wash does not irritate my skin at all, and it does NOT have a strong fragrance either. I will be purchasing again for sure, I just wished it came in the larger size and was priced to match the regular coconut body wash that they have. They use real coconut and strawberry bits, so this is not some harsh and strong fragrant soap.

I didn’t buy this for a child lol just for myself i wanted a natural shampoo & all these ingredients are simple. I wish i knew this brand sells at whole foods before i ordered

But there was no great lather. So you would have to use more …

The scent of the product is incredible and also lingers on the skin for a while. But there was no great lather. So you would have to use more of the product to get the lather that you would like.

they use ingredients I’m happy to use on my children’s skin

This is the 3rd different product we’ve tried from Alaffia. Aside from being a responsible company that’s local to me, they use ingredients I’m happy to use on my children’s skin. This scent is amazing! I’ve tries lots of natural products and these are quality! They lather and leave you feeling clean and without residue or feeling like you have to use twice as much as normal.

    Not Just for Kids

I love this product so much. It has just a simple scent that is not overpowering and cleans very well. I have really long hair and this product gets it very clean and leaves my hair super soft. I highly recommend this product, but I am also partial to the Alaffia company. I use their shampoo, body wash, chapstick, and sea salt spray. Their products have never disappointed me yet.

    Doesn’t smell that good

This doesn’t smell anywhere near the scent of the coconut strawberry moisturizer I bought along with this. Now THAT smells wonderful. Just a hint of strawberry. Not overpowering and does a wonderful job of moisturizing. This stuff almost smells like it’s been sitting around for awhile and got stale or something. It lathers up fine and can be used for shaving. But there’s no pleasant scent. I’m disappointed.

    Ingredients changed

Was disappointed when I received and ingredients had changed and it contained phenoxyethanol. Smells great though.

    Wrong item

It is the second time that I been delivered a wrong item. I like this brand but the I don’t get it why they mistake like that. I ordered a shampoo but I received bubble bath. That is the reason I am giving a 1 star.

  24. Robin C

    Body wash, yes. Shampoo, NO

This is a fantastic body wash for kids or adults. Nice lather, non drying on your skin, and a fun fruity scent. The strawberry hibiscus scent takes me back to being a kid, it is strong, but not over powering. I really like it, five stars.Do not use this as a shampoo. It is too stripping and will dry out your hair. Zero stars as a shampoo.

Overall product is good; buying through amazon not good.

I usually love this brand and have been buying it for a year now but the product isn’t great when bought online. It’s unmixed and discolored. I wouldn’t buy it through amazon again. They also sent me one that was supposed to expire within a month of purchase (they did resolve that but the second one sent was also unmixed).

  26. ruby rox

Scent is lovely and it’s a great soap for minimalist

I enjoyed the video on where and how this soap is made, that’s a group I want to support. I am so grateful for the product ingredient awareness movement. Mass production is unimaginably hard to do honestly but here is a brand that does so we can have safe options for our children. My 2 yr old says mmm strawberry scent when I’m bathing her. I can’t wait to try the lotion!

  27. Jin

    Strawberry where??

Sorry, no Alaffia – this smells not nice. How do you add fragrance and it still smells off? It’s oddly chemically. The lotion is 10/10 and I thought they would smell the same if not similar – they don’t. 3 stars for the cleaning aspect and packaging I guess – it also smells less weird the more I use it idk (Amazon let me keep it for hygiene reasons I think).

  28. brooke radford

Smells super yummy and gets the job done.

My kids LOVE this shampoo! They say it smells like gummy bears. It foams up pretty well and gets their hair clean without leaving residue. Rinses out easily too.. They’ve never complained about it stinging eyes at all. Leave their hair smelling great. Love the natural ingredients and the company ethics too!

  29. Angelica Butler

    Great body wash

We love this brand. The creams are super light and delicious. The body wash is nice and soft, my toddler loves it. The scent isn’t overpowering but it softly lingers for two days if not more (provided that my toddlers doesn’t bathe in chicken soup or spaghetti sauce).

  30. Kimberly S.

    Awesome sauce

I’ve been using this for about 2 weeks. No complaints so far. In fact, we’ve found our new wash. It is a thick formula, so a little bit goes a long way. The scent is light, not overpowering. No coconut scent, at least to me, just a little bit of strawberry. My daughter always smells nice and clean afterward. It doesn’t seem to bother her eyes or anything else. I’ve used it for myself too. I’ll be purchasing more alaffia products soon.
