How it started
For years, multi-cultural people with hard to manage hair traveled from store to store, trying to blend products in a hopeless attempt to tame their locks. Wendi Levy (left) and Kim Etheredge (right), two “mixed chicks”, created a product line because they needed it. Then, something happened…friends and family started encouraging them to package it, and soon they had a full blown business running out of the garage. After a little door to door hustling and a few celebrity endorsements, MIXED CHICKS is bringing their products to the world.

This product is amazing, but it may not be perfect for everyone. If you’re opposed to stronger smells, you won’t like this product. It reminds me of a men’s Cologne almost but it smells good to me. Nothing old fashioned! LOL! It does an amazing job of locking in moisture but is not moisturizing itself. You need to put moisturizing products on your hair and use this to lock them in. Will do so very well for days! It does leave a cast, so again, if that’s something you don’t like. What I love most about this product is it pairs well with any other product I use it with…different leave ins, different curl creams, different puddings…it works with all of them! I absolutely love it!

I used this gel with the Mixed Chicks Curl Defining & Frizz Eliminating Leave-In Conditioner. It really works. I am 72 and trying to find hair products that work on my hair has always been a struggle. Years ago, there wasn’t much of a selection, now there are so many products it’s overwhelming. Mixed Chicks is unlike other gels I’ve tried in that it doesn’t make my hair look ‘greased’ or smell funny. The scent is wonderful and SUBTLE. The gel WORKS. All you need is a tiny, pearl size dab to style my long (mid back) hair do. A good buy.

This product is by far my favorite product that I’ve ever used for my curls and my sons. I am bi racial and have soft kinky curls my sons hair is a lot harder to get curls to pop . This has been a win for both of us. Ever since I started using those I get nonstop questions about what I use in my hair and how I get my curls to pop like that. Extremely happy with this product and found my go to! This is a real review nothing in exchange for it just want to help people looking because I know it took me a very long time to find a great product.

Provides great hold for the top of my daughter’s head without leaving lots of flakes or “stuff” behind. She has 3c/4a hair, and I put a little bit of this on after twisting or braiding her hair at night for the [week]. It helps hold down the fly-aways and growing in hairs for the following day+. I can reapply to the top of her head for subsequent days if desired, and there’s no residual product.
